Markant opens Markdown files and MarkBooks and shows them as finished documents, with careful typography, text selection and search that work as they do elsewhere on the Mac, and print output that matches the screen. It reads your files and never changes them.
What it does
- Four reading themes: System, Paper, Ink and Academic. Each one adapts to light and dark appearance.
- Syntax highlighting for code in more than 185 languages.
- Mathematical notation drawn as vector graphics, on screen and in print.
- MarkBooks (.mkb), which hold several chapters, pictures and data in one file.
- Text selection across the whole document, search with ⌘F and printing or PDF export with ⌘P.
- Navigation through an Obsidian vault by its wikilinks.
- Quick Look previews in the Finder.
- The view updates when the file changes on disk.
Part of Lakoy
Markant is the Lakoy reader. Maps that Graphmark saves as Markdown open in Markant as outlines, and everything Markant opens stays a plain file that you can take to any other app.
